Make sure you wiper blades are not stuck to the windshield before you turn them on. This will help prevent damage to the wiper motor.

Make sure your fluids (Ex. oil, transmission, coolant) are changed at the appropriate times. This will extend you cars life.

If your ignition key will not turn, try rocking your steering wheel back and forth while turning the key.

Loose gas caps are a common problem if your "Check Engine" light is on, check that first.

A: No, but your car still has to be entered into the emission machine and you will get an "Exempt" sticker.

Q: What should I do when I am thinking of buying a used car?
A: You should have it checked out first before you purchase the vehicle. For a nominal fee we can check the vehicle over and give you a piece of mind before you buy.

Q: How often should I change the oil and filter in my car?
A:

It is recommended every 6 months or 3000 miles, which ever comes first, for most types of driving. If you drive more highway you can extend the mileage.

*See Oil Change Intervals*

Q: How often should I have my tires rotated?
A: A rule of thumb is 6000 miles (local driving) or every other oil change. If you do a lot of highway driving your tire rotation can be extended up to 9000 miles.

Q: When should I have my tires checked for balancing?
A: It's a good practice to have them checked when tire rotation is due.

Q: Do I need to use synthetic oil in my new car?
A: In most case, No. It is a better quality oil that can make your engine last longer, but check your owners manual, it is the recommended oil in a lot of newer cars and trucks.

Q: How often should I get my car/truck aligned?
A: Every 2 years or 30,000 miles, unless you see any tire or driving problems. *See Alignment*

Q: How often do I need my cooling system flushed and antifreeze changed?
A: Even though today's antifreeze say they will last 5 years 100,000 miles, I have seen many fail a lot earlier and cause damage. So 2-4 year change will be better and it may save you from replacing expensive components. *See Cooling*

Fuel Injection Service

Fuel injection cleaning is now a necessary maintenance service required on today’s cars and trucks.

Is your car hesitating, having trouble starting, achieving poor gas mileage or operating sluggish, stop in so we can determine if a Fuel Injection Service can improve its performance.

What does Fuel Injection Service do for my car?

The burning of the fuel leaves hardened carbon deposits on piston, valves and fuel injector nozzle heads that interferes with the spray pattern and flow of fuel. At Clay's Automotive Service Center, we connect your vehicle to an injector flushing machine and run the engine on a concentrated cleaning detergent. This dissolves the carbon deposits and restores proper fuel flow thru the injectors and into the combustion chamber.

After this service your car can achieve optimum gas mileage,  cleaner emissions, better response and performance.

And your engine may last longer!
